It is a member of the Mountaineering Association of Slovenia. The year of establishment of the club is disputed. According to the club, it was established in 1893, whereas the majority of experts consider the club was established later, in 1945. In 2013, the club had about 2,800 members. The current president of the club is Tomaž Willenpart. Sections of the club are involved in climbing, mountain guiding and mountain rescue, operating paths, educating youth, publishing and protecting the mountain environment.
